I got enough to go around

So apparently I don’t have a job. The firm can’t afford to bring me back for the summer. Luckily I made enough of a good impression that the people I worked with are going to help me try to get a job at firms they have connections with. Cool beans.

Spent yesterday suffering though an 8 hour shift in which I was alone for the second half of because my friend called in sick. Spent a couple hours of that trying to spark a conversation with the cute secret shopper in the Thriller jacket that I’ve never seen before. Of course the opportunities came at a low frequency of whenever she was looking for shoplifters in the aisle I was working in. By the time I decided to try I only got 2 chances, first time I was still thinking of what to say, second time I was about to then we made eye contact and I pussied out. Cya.

Bench: 255 x 3 x 5
Went up easy.

Press: 170 x 3 x 5
Went up sucky.

Ring Chins: +70 x 5,5,8
Tough, 70 is also a shitty weight for this, because the only way to set the plates up symmetrical.

Squats: 385 x 3 x 5
Went up decent, couldn’t really get into my groove, though.

RDL + Shrug: 285 x 3 x 5
Felt wonky, but still went up fine.

Row: 255 x 3 x 5

Last night was pretty boring, I mean it was pretty cool to get to hang out with my friends, but it ended up being more of just a couple of people drinking at someone’s house instead of going out, in which case I don’t really see the point in drinking, so I could have saved money on beer and drove myself. We ended up walking out to a restaurant and getting food at around 0030h. We were originally just gonna get pizza be we crossed a bar and grill type place and decided to see if the kitchen was still open, which it was. Everyone else got a burger, I got the rib and wing combo. Had the waitress known about the 70’s Big “Cya” thing, she definitely would have said it when I ordered the rib and wing combo drunk, at 0045h cya.

Deadlifts: 450 x 3
Not terribly hard

Speed Squats: 250 x 6 x 2
One rep was kinda slow compared to the rest, I think it was rep 2 of set 5. Rest were good.

Back Extensions: 80 x 3 x 5
The regular bench I use for these was broken, so I had to use the GHR, which was way better for actually performing the exercise, but pretty much impossible to get the weight on my back on my own.

Pinch Grip Deadlifts: 140 x 3 x 8
Hard as fuck. 

Today I Didn’t Even Have to use my AK

I got to say it was a good day.

Finished exams. 4 months without having to do any school work. It’s a pretty good feeling.

Stepped on the scale and it said 202.5lb. Also a pretty good feeling.

Probably gonna go out and do a bit of drinking on the weekend, nothing too crazy. I could have tonight but I decided to drive instead. Was a pretty shit party anyways.

Bench: 305 x 2, 315 x 2, 325 x 2
PRs are cool. Especially after not eating for 6 hours. The first one flew up, second started to fly up I thought “Wow, this is easy” relaxed slightly, and had a really slow lockout.

Press: 210 x 2, 220 x 2, 230 x 2
More PRs! A LOT of lay back on the second rep.

Curls: (40, 30, 20) x 2 x 9
Tried doing lowering one side at the same time as I was raising the other on the second set. Not nearly as much of a pump.

Skull Crushers: 110 x 2 x 12
Strict this time.

After last night I can confidently say that if you’re not watching Game of Thrones you’re really fucking up.

Look, Harry, man, I dunno what to tell you, I don’t really worry about what the people think of me, or if they hope I fail because their actual opinions are irrelevant, it’s the fact that people are paying attention to me at all. I just want all these random people to leave me alone. I don’t like when people I don’t know watch me lift, I don’t like when people try to contradict what I tell my lifters, and I especially don’t like when people I don’t know me come up and address me by name in the gym/locker room. Who the fuck are you people? Don’t you have some offs to fuck?

Played with my set-up a bit on my warm-ups as per ACs vid. Shit felt really weird, setting your arch from your hips instead of the back of your shoulders, I might keep playing with it. Anyways, work sets with regular set up were fast.

Press: 165 x 3 x 5
Presses without a belt are fucking awful

Ring Chins: +65 x 5,5,10
Not sure if I’ve ever done better than that. Kinda depressing that the one thing my summer gym will lack is rings.

Squats: 380 x 3 x 5
Might have done the first set at 390, not entirely sure. Also these were easy as fuck, which is surprising considering I got 5 hours of sleep last night and haven’t gotten since before exams started.

Shrug + RDL: 280 x 3 x 5

Rows: 250 x 3 x 5
Don’t hate rows anymore now.

3 exams through. Today’s was a doozie. The worst part of exams is honestly sitting in that deadass quiet room not being allowed to eat, or listen to music or go to the washroom without a TA going with you. Just rows of student and paper. Anyways, 2 left, both shouldn’t be too hard. Then I can get back to sleeping 8 hours a night and probably drink a few beers.

Squat: 450 x 3
Came a bit forward on the second, third was a bit slower than I would have liked, all three could not have been deeper.

DE Deadlift: 300 x 1 x 10
Most of the ones in the middle were a bit slow

Back Extension: 80 x 3 x 5

Pinch Grip Deadlift: 135 x 3 x 8
Harder than usual.

You should probably give this listen, it’s really good, particularly the third verse.

Whole body is tense, from your feet digging into the floor, to your shoulder blades digging into the bench. Stare at the bar-no, stare into it. Keep it in the back of your head that it can kill you if you don’t keep it where it needs to be. Another deep breath, raise the bar out of it’s little nook. Excite it. Hold it above you. One more deep breath, and it begins.

Still not entirely sure why I’m a psychopath. The whole thing isn’t really even my idea in the first place. I’ve been told by different people that don’t know each other on more than one occasion that I should practice flirting with girls regardless of my intent. Brent thinks it’s fine so I probably am a psycho. Cya

290 was really, really easy, which is about right because it’s 10 pounds less than it was supposed to be. 310 went up pretty nicely, second rep of 320 was a bit slower that I would have liked, but I’ve been sleeping less due to exams

215 was slower than 225. Cya.

So basically I decided a girl I recently met is going to be what I refer to as my practice dummy. I’m gonna practice flirting with her  even though I have no intention of actually ever going out with her. Essentially a reverse friendzone.

Aaron thinks this is psychopathic, so I’m gonna take the the rest of the story out in case anyone I know IRL reads this even though they definitely don’t. Cya.

Also I’ve noticed over the past little while that it seems to be pretty consistent behavior that if you say the words “Husky Puppy” to a girl she instantly melts like butter. I guess that’s a PROTIP.

Having assignments and term projects due during exam period is pretty fucking sweet.

Basically from now until the 24th I’m going to be doing nothing but studying, lifting, eating, and sleeping. Not that I do all that much else the rest of the time. After that I have a month off and it’s back to work. Work is pretty cool. Looking forward to the return of HRR. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep composure. Pretty much guaranteed I’ll need to by some new clothes to accommodate my new weight. Hoping to get away with only replacing my dress pants and not the shirts.

Deadlift: 445 x 3
Smoked it, don’t know what I was did with the second rep but it was kind of a cross between touch and go and dead halt in the sense that the weight came to a complete rest but I didn’t reset. I dunno, probably won’t do that again, it felt weird as fuck. The fitness students doing their shit for their class in the gym stared at me afterwards because apparently learning about the gym for your entire fucking degree doesn’t encompass learning how to deadlift heavy.

Speed squats: 250 x 6 x 2
Fast as I’ve ever done them, felt good. No belt.

Back Extension: 80 x 3 x 5
Finally found the perfect positioning of the bench for this and caught a phat pump

Pinch Grip Deadlifts: 135 x 3 x 8
Does anyone ever notice their hands being really sensitive to temperature difference after deadlifts/grip work? I legit have trouble holding anything hot or cold for at least 12 hours after anything that puts a lot of shear force on my palms.

So yesterday I was telling my buddy at work that I made Bacon Pancakes. The cashier in the room said that was disgusting, I instantly decided she’s an idiot. My buddy asked if she’s a vegetarian, she said she was and the first thing that came out of my mouth was “Why would you do that?” I feel like this is a perfectly normal response. I bet she wonders why she looks like she’s in grade 9 when she’s actually 19.

Went up pretty easy, set up too close to the vertical on set two and brushed them on the way up, nbd.

So much better cleaning, it makes a huge difference on the set up for your first rep.

Surprised I got 8 on the last set, because the first two were tough

Squat: 380 x 3 x 5
Beltless, as Papa Cloud recommends, for the first time ever, and it was great, it especially helped with my bloating issue, but just felt generally better. I did however find that I didn’t get as amped up before my sets without the belt on, just something about snapping that lever shut, I guess.

RDL+Shrug: 275 x 3 x 5
Also beltless, but not much of a difference here.

Rows: 230 x 3 x 5
All beltless everything. These had the biggest difference, rowing with a belt is complete shit compared to without, I can probably throw some more weight on these, now, actually.
